Christianity at Croscombe
At Croscombe Church of England Primary School, we believe that there is a light which shines within each of us – a light that has been given to us by God, which we should use to help us achieve great things.
We believe it is our job to help that light to shine in all that we do and all that we try to do.
Let your Light Shine
Our values of Sharing, Honesty, Independence, Nurturing, and Equality (SHINE) are at the heart of everything you do, guiding our mission to develop each child’s unique potential.
Our vision is based on Jesus’ words in John 10:10 ‘I have come that they may have life in all its fullness.’ As a church school, our ethos is underpinned by our Christian Values and these are introduced during our Collective Worship and lived through the life of the school.
Our vision statement is “Let your light shine” based upon words from Matthew’s gospel.
Through Collective Worship we provide opportunities for our pupils to learn about, question, discuss and reflect on a range of Christian Values. We use the Christian calendar as a guide to ensure that we offer a broad perspective on each of them which is relevant to the age of our children.
Each term we focus on a different value, exploring a new aspect of that value each week. There are whole school Collective Worship activities on Mondays. Class based Collective Worship during the week. On Wednesdays we worship through songs and on Fridays we celebrate the achievements of every child in the school. Collective Worship is led by Senior Leaders and Class Teachers, Rev Chris Butler and visitors to the school. Each class leads Collective Worship at least once a term. We enjoy a close relationship with the local church (St Mary the Virgin) and are delighted to visit whenever possible.
